The Journal of Health, Safety and Environment is the most respected peer-reviewed HSE Journal in Australia and New Zealand, with a growing reputation overseas.  This multidisciplinary Journal presents current HSE research and the latest emerging HSE topics as examined by industry specialists and academics. It is essential reading for committed HSE researchers and professionals.

    The aims of the Journal are to provide:
  • a forum in which to disseminate new HSE research findings and discuss HSE issues;
  • practical research-based solutions for HSE problems;
  • interpretations of current workplace health and safety legislation;
  • analyses of various HSE management strategies;
  • reviews of contemporary HSE issues; and
  • advice on HSE resources.

Editorial Executive

The Editorial Executive of the Journal spearheads the development and maintenance of the Journal in the WHS and HSE context through its focus on direction, content, academic and publishing spread and focus, and research integrity. The Executive is supported by the Editorial Board in development of the high standards of the Journal through their expert role in review of papers and other contributions both as to subject and content, submission of high level content and expert input into the Journal’s focus and ongoing development.

Don Dingsdag,BA (Hons) PhD is a Senior Lecturer in OHS at the University of Western Sydney. 

Tim Driscoll BSc(Med) MBBS MOHS PhD FAFOEM FAFPHM is Professor in epidemiology and occupational medicine in the Sydney School of Public Health at the University of Sydney. 

Dianne Gardner PhD is a registered psychologist and Senior Lecturer in Industrial/ Organisational Psychology in the School of Psychology at Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand.

Ian Laird B Sc (Hons), M Sc (Lond), Ph D, MRSH, MBOHS is Associate Professor in Occupational Health and Safety in the Centre for Ergonomics, Occupational Safety and Health, School of Public Health, Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand.

Ron McCallum AO is an Emeritus Professor of the University of Sydney and a consultant to the national law firm of HWL Ebsworth.

David McBride PhD is Associate Professor in Occupational Health at the University of Otago, New Zealand.

Pam Pryor,BSc, BEd, GDOHM, FSIA is the inaugural Registrar of the Australian OHS Education Accreditation Board.

Susanne Bahn B.Ed, MRHM, PhD is a Senior Lecturer (Research) in the Centre for Innovative Practice, School of Business, Edith Cowan University.

Tim Bentley BSc (Hons), MSc, PhD, CNZErg is Professor of Management and ergonomics at AUT University, Director of the New Zealand Work Research Institute (NZWRI) and AUT’s Future of Work programme.

Philip Bohle PhD is Professor of Work and Health and leader of the Work and Health Research Team in the Ageing, Work and Health Research Unit, Faculty of Health Sciences at The University of Sydney.

Barry Chesson PhD, BSc(Hons), MAppSc(Health Science), GradDipNatRes, COH, FAIOH, CIH, FRACI, CChem, MAIHA is Senior Occupational Hygienist with Chevron’s Australasian Business Unit. Additionally, he holds an appointment as Adjunct Associate Professor at Curtin University’s School of Public Health, has just completed a one-year term as National President of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygiene and serves as an Expert Member of the tripartite Commission for Occupational Safety and Health of WA.

Drew Dawson PhD is the Inaugural Engaged Research Chair at CQUni and Director of the Appleton Institute based in Adelaide. 

A Ian Glendon BA(Hons), MBA(Dist) PhD is with the School of Applied Psychology, Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia.

Professor Neil Gunningham PhD, MA,  LLB holds research professorships in the Regulatory Institutions Network and the Fenner School of Environment and Society at the Australian National University. He is also Co-Director of the National Research Centre for Occupational Health and Safety Regulation.

Fiona Haines BA (Hons), PhD is Professor of Criminology in the School of Social and Political Sciences and Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at RegNet in the College of Asia and Pacific at ANU.

Rebecca Loudoun PhD is a Senior Lecturer at Griffith University and a member of the Research Centre for Work, Organisation and Well-Being.

Dino Pisaniello, BSc(Hons) MPH PhD FAIOH FSIA FRACI is currently the Australian Secretary of the International Commission on Occupational Health and Head of the Discipline of Public Health at the University of Adelaide. Dino is a Past President of AIOH and has published in excess of 200 scientific papers and technical reports in the areas of chemical hazard management, occupational and environmental epidemiology, intervention research, and health and safety education.

Dr Kevin Purse BEc, PhD, FAICD is with Central Queensland University’s Appleton Institute in Adelaide. 

Ross Underwood BE, MengSci, CPeng, MIEAust, MAHRI, MSIA, MAIDGC is in active practice with ongoing projects and other consultancy work in a variety of industry and commercial projects  most prominently in the health, defence, medical and tertiary education sectors. 

Warwick Williams PhD is a Senior Research Engineer responsible for the Hearing Loss Prevention section at the National Acoustic Laboratories, Sydney. He is currently chairman of the Standards Australia Committee AV – 003 Acoustics – Human effects and represents Australia on several International Standards committees and working groups.
